A groundbreaking ceremony for the Highway 12 improvement project was held on October 20, bringing together state, county, and community leaders. The much-anticipated project will bring major improvements to the Springs corridor, including new sidewalks, intersection widening, street repaving, and improvements to storm drainage and traffic signalization.
This first stage of the project is for the section of the highway between Donald Street on the south, and Boyes Boulevard on the north. Construction of the improvements, which are estimated to cost $4.2 million, should begin in early November.
The project, which is being funded by redevelopment monies from the Springs Redevelopment Project Area, is expected to be a major catalyst for economic development in the area.
